What do hotels in a Muslim country usually ask unmarried couples at check-in?

ResMi Pass is a relationship declaration for couples travelling to destinations where cultural and religious regulations can influence accommodation rules. It is intended for use when relationship information is requested as part of booking, check-in, or guest registration.

Accommodation requirements can vary by destination

Hotels and hosts follow local procedures, and these can differ from one country to another. In some destinations, couples may be asked to state or confirm their relationship status before sharing a room or property. ResMi Pass provides a clear, prepared statement that can be shown when such questions arise.

What the document is designed to show

ResMi Pass states the relationship status you declare and ties it to your trip by listing your destination or destinations. The document is laid out so it is clear who it refers to and what information is being presented, without additional explanation.

Information included in ResMi Pass

The document includes key details for both individuals: first and last name, date of birth, email address and phone number, plus an identification reference such as a passport number or national ID number. It also records the destination(s) and the declared relationship status (for example, married, cohabiting, or engaged). Where relevant, the relationship start date can be included.

Signatures and witness confirmation

ResMi Pass is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This provides a documented record that the signatures have been checked.

Where it can be used

ResMi Pass may be presented on request to hotels, resorts, aparthotels, short-term rentals such as Airbnb, and other accommodation providers that request relationship information as part of their procedures.

Traveller responsibility

Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship information is requested.
